Building a Rooted Home
When we bought this house, we didn't see perfectly painted walls or beautifully styled rooms.
We saw potential.
Not just for renovations, but for a life we hoped to build inside these walls.
We imagined little feet running through the hallway.
Books stacked beside cozy chairs.
Birthday candles blown out around the dining table.
Summer evenings with the windows open.
Christmas mornings.
Garden flowers on the kitchen counter.
A home where our daughters would always feel safe returning.
Today, if you walked through our front door, you'd probably find building supplies where a dining room should be.
Paint samples.
Tools.
Dust.
Half-finished projects.
Some days it feels more like a construction site than the peaceful home we're dreaming about.
But I've realized something along the way.
A rooted home isn't created the day the renovations are finished.
It's created while life is happening.
It's built in the middle of bedtime stories on unfinished floors.
Family dinners surrounded by boxes.
Babies learning to crawl before the trim is installed.
Fresh flowers sitting beside power tools.
That's the season we're in right now.
And instead of waiting until every room is "finished," I've decided to share the process.
Because I have a feeling many of us are building our homes and our families at the very same time.
Over the coming months, I'll be sharing each space as it slowly comes together—not as perfect reveals, but as chapters in the story of making a house into a home.
One room.
One season.
One memory at a time.
