Home isn’t built all at once- it’s cultivated season by season.

My Story

Welcome to my corner of Northern Living.

I'm Katie, a wife, mother, and the creator behind Nelson's Northern Living—a place inspired by the changing seasons, beautiful homes, and the quiet rhythms of family life.

For years, I found myself searching for a slower, more intentional way to live. After becoming a mother, my days quickly filled with diapers, dishes, laundry, and the endless responsibilities that come with caring for a family. Somewhere along the way, the parts of myself that loved- design, homemaking, and creating beauty in everyday life began to feel distant.

When our family moved back to my hometown in Wisconsin and into a fixer-upper, life became wonderfully full—but also incredibly overwhelming. Between raising babies and renovating a home, I often felt like I was simply trying to keep up.

Everything began to change when I stopped trying to do more and started paying closer attention.

xx Katie

I noticed the rhythm of the seasons. I created simple systems that brought peace to our home. I found joy in tending a garden, setting the table, lighting a candle before dinner, and creating traditions my daughters will one day remember. I realized that home isn't built all at once—it's cultivated, season by season.

Nelson's Northern Living was born from that realization.

This is a place where I share the things that have helped me create a beautiful, welcoming home and a life that feels deeply rooted: thoughtful design, seasonal living, motherhood, gardening, family traditions, and carefully chosen products that truly add value to everyday life.

More than anything, I hope this space reminds you that beauty doesn't have to be extravagant, and meaningful living doesn't require perfection.

Whether you're planting your first garden, refreshing a room, building new family traditions, or simply searching for a little more peace in the everyday, I hope you'll feel at home here.

Thank you for being here.

I'm so grateful you've found your way to this little corner of the North.
